Times Square Bomb Scare

NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com)- The suspicious vehicle that was found in New York’s Times Square on Saturday evening contained explosive devices, according to latest reports. A section of the Times Square was vacated on Saturday after smoke was emanating from a car that was parked in the 45th Street and the Seventh Avenue of the area that sparked a bomb scare. Reports that the sports car contained explosives has been validated by the New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

While stating details of the bomb scare incident in Times Square, Mayor Michael Bloomberg addressed a press conference on early Sunday morning in which he confirmed that an improvised device was discovered inside the Nissan pathfinder after police authorities and firefighters undertook a thorough investigation. The press conference was also attended by Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, who revealed that the vehicle comprised of three propane tanks, two gasoline containers, some fireworks, electrical wires, clocks with batteries along with few other components. Despite the fact that some officers have reportedly stated that blasts also took place in the suspicious car, detailed information about the incident has not been forthcoming.

Following the bomb scare sparked by the suspicious car parked in Times Square, a chaotic scenario was witnessed in the area as New York Police Department officials evacuated the adjoining area in order to avoid any untoward incident. The situation in New York’s Times Square became all the more frenzied initially as large number of New Yorkers and tourists had gathered in the area as it was weekend. However, the situation was brought under control as bomb squad arrived immediately and the cordoned off the area.
