THIMPHU - The talks between Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani have changed the climate between the two countries, and it is “good news for the region”, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Thursday.

Talking to mediapersons after the meeting between Gilani and Manmohan Singh, Qureshi said the meeting was positive and concluded on a very positive note.

“It’s good news for the region. Let’s be happy with that.”

“The outcome of the meeting has changed the climate between India and Pakistan,” Qureshi told reporters after the 50-minute meeting between the two leaders.

He also said that Pakistan has assured that the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attack would be brought to justice.

However, trust deficit still exists between the two neighbours, he said, adding that the foreign ministers of the two countries would help to bring the relationship to normalcy.

Manmohan Singh and Gilani have directed their foreign ministers and foreign secretaries to work out the modalities of restoring trust between the two countries to pave the way for substantive dialogue.
