Ex-con guilty in NFL player robbery case in Vegas

LAS VEGAS — A Nevada jury has convicted a six-time convicted felon of kidnapping, robbing and beating a former NFL millionaire just off the Las Vegas Strip almost two years ago.

Deshawn Lamont Thomas showed no emotion as the verdicts were read on charges that could get him up to life in prison for the robbery of former Oakland Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker.

Lawyers for 42-year-old Thomas promised to appeal.

The jury deliberated less than five hours after five days of testimony in Clark County District Court.

Walker is a 31-year-old unsigned free agent.

He acknowledged he was falling-down drunk when he was robbed of tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry, cash and casino chips after a night partying at Las Vegas clubs in June 2008.
