Police make arrest in FIU football player’s death

MIAMI — Miami-Dade police have arrested the man they say killed Florida International University running back Kendall Berry.

Twenty-two-year-old Quentin Rashad Wyche turned himself in Friday night.

Investigators say the pair got into an argument Thursday night just outside the front doors of the campus recreation center, where the football team and other FIU athletes train.

Police say Wyche pulled out an unknown sharp object and stabbed Berry.

The details of their argument weren’t released. It wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.

MIAMI (AP) — Florida International University officials say police have made an arrest in the slaying of running back Kendall Berry.

The university announced the arrest in an e-mail Friday night. The suspect was not named and police did not immediately respond to calls seeking more details.

Miami-Dade police say the 22-year-old was stabbed on the school’s main Miami campus late Thursday night.

Police say the stabbing took place just outside the front doors of the campus rec center, where the football team and other FIU athletes train.

The player was reportedly involved in an argument with one or more people.
