Dallas man suspected in office shootings dies

DALLAS — Dallas police say a former city attorney accused of shooting a father and son inside their financial business has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Sr. Cpl. Kevin Janse said 60-year-old Robert Mustard died Wednesday afternoon.

Police say Mustard turned the gun on himself after shooting 66-year-old Richard Smith and his son 39-year-old Christopher Smith on Monday.

Richard Smith was shot four times in the legs, and his son was shot in the head and neck. Both were in stable condition.

Authorities believe Mustard was upset about financial dealings. Mustard worked for the city in the 1980s.
