Spain: another suspect sought in tainted PC grid
MADRID — Police in Spain say they are on the trail of another suspect after smashing a huge network of virus-infected computers and making three arrests.
Juan Salon of the Spanish Civil Guard’s cybercrime unit told reporters Wednesday investigators have learned the suspect’s Internet handle and that this person might be Venezuelan.
Three young Spaniards were arrested last month as part of the same international investigation that led to the dismantling of a “botnet” that affected nearly 13 million PCs. These included computers inside more than half of the Fortune 1,000 companies and more than 40 major banks.
