PANCHKULA - Speaking about the torture and harassment he underwent at the behest of former Haryana police chief S.P.S. Rathore years ago, teenaged molestation victim Ruchika Girhotra’s brother Ashu Thursday demanded that Rathore “should be behind bars”.

Ashu, who remained in hiding since his sister committed suicide Dec 1993 following torture unleashed by the Haryana police at Rathore’s behest, said that he had moved an application Thursday evening to get a case under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (abetment to suicide) registered against Rathore.

Recalling his torture briefly, Ashu said he was subjected to third-degree treatment by Haryana police. “Rathore used to come and see the torture himself,” he added.

As media persons asked him to recount the torture, Ashu’s wife objected to it, saying that Ashu was not in a mental condition to tell those details.

“As you know, the molestation of my sister took place in 1990. Rathore unleashed torture on me and my family after that. False cases were put on me, leading to my sister committing suicide,” Ashu said.

“My demand is that Rathore should be arrested and be behind bars,” Ashu added before being taken away by family members and lawyer Pankaj Bhardwaj.
