KOLKATA - West Bengal governor M.K. Narayanan Sunday condemned the killing of three people in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district by suspected Maoist guerrillas, terming it “most unfortunate.”

“Human beings should not be killed. It is most unfortunate,” Narayanan told media persons on the sidelines of a programme here.

Three people were shot dead and one was injured when a group of Maoists attacked a tea stall near Rameshwarpur area of Salboni in West Midnapore district.

First the rebels beat up the people there and then suddenly opened fire, killing three.

The identity of the three people killed is yet to be known, said a senior police official of the district.
