KABUL - Six NATO soldiers were killed in a Taliban attack in southern Afghanistan Sunday, reports Xinhua.

“Six International Security Assistance Force service members died following an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan today,” the alliance said in a statement. It did not identify the nationalities of the victims.

Troops mostly from the US, Britain, Australia and Canada have been stationed in the restive southern region to ensure security there.

The latest fatalities bring the total number of casualties of NATO troops to 22 in December.

Over 680 NATO soldiers, majority of them US troops, have been killed since January this year in Afghanistan.
