Nine militants killed in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - Nine militants were killed Saturday in fighting with security forces in Pakistan’s northwestern Swat Valley and Mohmand tribal region, a media report said.

Five militants were killed in Swat and four more were killed in Mohmand tribal region, Dawn newspaper reported on its website quoting senior official Amjad Ali Khan.

The army said the valley has been largely cleared of militants after it launched an operation against them in April 2009.
