Missouri suspends DB Simmons for unknown reasons

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Senior safety Jasper Simmons has been indefinitely suspended from the Missouri football team.

The school announced Simmons’ indefinite suspension on Monday. It did not disclose the reason but said the violation was not related to legal troubles.

Simmons had missed the team’s past three games while recovering from knee surgery after being injured against Illinois.

Captain Derrick Washington was kicked off the team and faces criminal charges of felony sex assault and domestic violence.

Two other players each missed two games after arrests on drunken -driving charges. And assistant coach Bruce Walker received undisclosed team sanctions after his arrest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
