Seven militants killed in Russia

MOSCOW - At least seven militants were killed Sunday in a gun battle with police in Russia’s North Caucasus state of Dagestan.

Special police forces launched an operation in state capital Makhachkala and surrounded a house with eight militants inside at around noon, Xinhua reported citing local police officials.

Police fired when the militants refused to surrender, the officials said, adding that up to seven militants have been killed.
