SRINAGAR - One separatist guerrilla was reportedly killed in an ongoing gunfight in south Kashmir Tuesday.

A senior police officer said here that troopers of the counter-insurgency force Rashtriya Rifles and the special operations group of the local police cordoned off Aharbal village in Kulgam district, 68 km from here, Tuesday morning following specific information about the presence of a group of guerrillas there.

“As the security forces challenged the militants hiding inside a house to surrender, they came under heavy gunfire triggering a gun battle which is still on. So far, one militant has died but his body is still lying inside,” the officer said.
