Suspicious package sent to Sen. Kerry’s office

BOSTON — Authorities are investigating a suspicious package sent to Sen. John Kerry’s office in downtown Boston.

Kerry spokeswoman Brigid O’Rourke says the package was delivered in the mail Thursday morning.

Staffers became concerned and contacted the Boston fire and police departments. O’Rourke says the federal Homeland Security Department is also investigating.

O’Rourke says he did not see the package herself but says the office has not been evacuated. Kerry was not there at the time.
