MUMBAI - The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Wednesday filed a charge sheet against former Union minister Buta Singh’s son Sarabjot alias Sweety Singh and three others allegedly involved in a corruption scam.

Besides Sarabjot, the 31-page charge sheet filed before a designated CBI court has named Anup Begi, Dhoopsingh Chauhan and Madan Solanki.

Though Buta Singhs name is not mentioned in the charge sheet, the charges against Sarabjot and Begi pertain to corruption and criminal conspiracy while Chauhan and Solanki are accused of money laundering.

The CBI had recorded the statement of Buta Singh, chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), as a witness.

Last year, on July 31, the CBI nabbed Sarabjot for allegedly demanding gratification of Rs.10 million from a civic contractor based in Nashik, Ramrao Patil. The bribe was demanded ostensibly to settle a case pending against Patil before the National Commission for Scheduled Castes.

Buta Singh had claimed that his son was being framed in the case.
